| BIOMEDICAL ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN | MEDICAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT PROGRAMME | PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN |
[ 18 MONTH COURSE ] The Biomedical Electronics Technician's programme offers knowledge of the principles of modern biomedical techniques, the proper procedure in the care , handling and maintenance of of biomedical equipment, and the demonstration of attitudes and behaviours expected of an Electronics Technian employed in a hospital or other healthcare environment. Once the CET has acquired these skills, abilities and lnowledge, he/she will be able to venture into any sector of the biomediaccl electronics field. [ 9 MONTH COURSE ] The heakth care field offers a variety of interesting and challenging career oppportunities to graduates of the Administrative Assistant Programme. Students will receive training which emphasizes the administrative and business aspects of managing a medical or dental office. W ith strong administrative skills, graduates can become an itegral part of a health care facility. Entry-level positions such as receptionist, insurance processor, medical records clerk, and medical transcriber are found in the medical and dental offices, hospitals, clinics, home health agencies and insurance companies. |
[ 3 MONTH ] This course of study provides training in all the skills required to function as a Phlebotomy Technician in a medical office, clinic, laborotory, or hospital. The student will become familiar with blood collection procedures, the utilization of standard phlebotomy equipment, safety and medical ethics, and related medical terminology. They would be able to identify different parts of the integumentary system, the anatomy and physiology of the blood and proper identification techniques of the patient. The student will be able to accurately and professionally perform different venipunctureprocedures, common sites for each and demonstrate understanding of the theory of phlebotomy. | ECG TECHNICIAN | PHARMACY TECHNICIAN | MASSAGE THERAPY |
[ 3 MONTH COURSE ] Familiarizes participants with the processes and outcomes of electrocardiograms. The student will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the anatomy and physiology of the Cardiovascular System, medical terminology, ECG interpretations, and identificationof phases of the cardiac cycle. Additionally, he/she will acquire skills and abilities in areas such as, emergencies, reconition of normal and abnormal ECG's. proper identification of techniques of patients and familiarity with the operation and set up of different ECG equipment. The student would also be introduced to the basic concept of echocardio stress testing. |
[ 12 MONTH COURSE ] The Pharmacy Technician programme provides both technical and practical training which will enable the technician, to function as a competent entry-level assistant to the pharmacist. This programme provides the student with basic knowledge of and practice in pharmacy calculations, drug distribution systems and a combination of theory and laboratory time. During the externship, which is completed at the end of the classroom portion of the programme, students are given the opportunity to observe and become part of the pharmacy team, as they gain hands on practice working side-by-side with pharmacists and other health care professionals. |
[ 9 MONTH COURSE ] The Massage Therapy Programme is an entry-level programme in the area of soft tissue dysfunction/massage therapy. The student will gain a solid foundation in natomy and physiology and will demonstrate competence and skill in massage techniques and documentation. The graduate will have diverse opportunities for employment in health clubs, massage clinics, day spas, chiropractors' offices, pain clinics, sports teams. rehabilitation centres, neuromuscular clinics, naturopathic physicians' offices, orthopaedic offices, dental offices, athletic clubs and home/office settings. |
| PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN | SURGICAL/OPERATING ROOM TECHNICIAN | DIALYSIS TECHNICIAN |
[ 9 MONTH COURSE ] This programme is designed to prepare the student for an entry level position as a patient care technician. Emphasis is placed on the technical skills necessary to perform personal care to complex patients, implementation of selected portions of care plans, including respiratory services, rehabilitation services, ECG and phlebotomy under the supervision of registered nurses. The programme also includes supervised externship at an affiliate health care facility. |
[ 15 MONTH COURSE ] This programme is designed to prepare the student with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to gain employment as a surgical technician in environments such as hospitals, surgical units and surgoen's offices. Students will study all aspects of surgery including law and ethics, pharmacology, microbiology, sterilization, aseptic techniques, anaesthetia, surgical emergencies, communication skills, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology and surgical procedures for the various medical specialties. |
[ 12 MONTH ] Is a programme designed for individuals desirous of becoming dialysis technicians. the participant would be able to attain all the skills required for the efficient and professional delivery of both haemo and peritoneal dialysis. He/she would also be able to obtain blood samples ffor analysis, and be abe to monitor and provide basic service for equipment such as catheters and A-V fistulas. The student would develop an in depth knowledge of the genitor-urinary system, including its anatomy and physiology. Practical experience and an externship at a local dialysis centre are also inclusive in this course. |
| CLINICAL MEDICAL ASSISTANT | ||
[ 15 MONTHS ] This programme is a combination of the Medical Administrative Assistant programme, Phlebotomy and ECG courses. Tis programme would furnish the graduate with the competence t manage a medical practice and in so doing develop administrative and clinical skills that will allow him/her to attain a supervisory or management position in a health care facilty. |
